Tom Inglis '70, who has served as the general manager and chief operating officer of The Cornell Club-New York since 1991, is retiring in November, the club announced earlier this month. Replacing him is Craig Lasnier, who first joined the East 44th Street home-away-from-home for Cornellians 24 years ago as assistant manager.

Inglis, a graduate of the School of Hotel Administration, most recently worked with his management staff and team to win the status of Platinum Club, awarded to the top 50 private city clubs across the nation by the Platinum Clubs of America.

Throughout Lasnier's tenure at the club, he has established a culture of community as he fostered relations with the university and the club's management team. He has had many varied roles behind the scenes and, as he prepares for his new role, he is enthusiastic to begin work on his top priorities, which include "keeping the club current and on trend while maintaining our proud history," Lasnier said.

Jack Neafsey '61, MBA '63, chairman of the board for The Cornell Club-New York, complimented Inglis on his steady leadership during good times as well as economic downturns, such as after 9/11 and in 2008-09. Neafsey also credited Inglis with completely renewing and upgrading the club facilities.

Neafsey added that Lasnier "has been the face of the club management for over 20 years, and his promotion to general manager is both well deserved and has been widely applauded."

Club officials also announced that Timothy Della Pace, who began working for the club in 1997 as food and beverage director, has taken on the new position of director of operations. His responsibilities include overseeing the front office, engineering and housekeeping departments in addition to the food and beverage department.

The Cornell Club-New York has 6,400 members; located at 6 E. 44th St. in midtown Manhattan, it has 48 guest rooms and facilities and hosts approximately 150 lectures, panel discussions, guest chef dinners and other events each year.
